My Priorities and
Why I'm Running

  • A Fiscally Stable,
    Accountable District
  • A Student Assignment System That Works for Families
  • Better Outcomes
    for Every Student

A Fiscally Stable,
Accountable District

SFUSD only recently earned back a positive financial certification after years under state oversight and keeping it requires real discipline. I’ll bring 20 years of public finance and oversight experience to the Board: maintaining a structurally balanced budget, building reserves in line with best practices, planning ahead for the sunset of the Prop G educator parcel tax, and looking past polished administrative reports to the actual data. Policy without rigorous oversight is just a wish list. I’ll set clear, measurable goals and ensure there is accountability on delivering them.

A Student Assignment System That Works for Families

Our current enrollment lottery is anxiety-inducing and unpredictable, too often assigning students to schools miles from home and driving families out of SFUSD, or out of San Francisco entirely. The Board voted years ago to move to a more predictable zone-based system, but implementation has been delayed to 2028–29. As a data scientist and parent leader, I’ll dig into the District’s enrollment simulations, fix the technical bottlenecks, and make sure this transition doesn’t stall any further.Families deserve predictability and a high-quality school within a reasonable distance of home. Getting this right isn't just about keeping families in SFUSD, it's about attracting new ones back. Growing enrollment, including by expanding seats in immersion programs families are actively seeking out, makes the entire district stronger and more financially secure.

Better Outcomes
for Every Student

SFUSD’s reading and math proficiency rates are unacceptably low, and the District has made no progress on its own literacy and math goals since setting them in 2022. We can do better. I’ll champion expanding what’s already working: dedicated intervention time like WIN blocks that give students targeted support at no additional instructional cost, high-impact literacy tutoring in high-needs schools, and more capacity in the programs families are lining up for, like language immersion and advanced coursework. I’ll insist on transparent, cohort-level performance data so parents and the Board can see what’s really happening in our schools.
